Chronology of important events in Islamic history

The call of Prophet towards Islam was so powerful and the appeal of
the message of Islam was so strong that in 622 Prophet went to Madina
and by the time in 632 the Prophet passed away, the entire Arabian Peninsula had embraced Islam.

570(CE)    Birth of Prophet Mohammad at Makkah to Amina, the wife  of Abdullah



610         The mantle of prophethood
      



622         (Ist Hijra year) Hijrat of the holy Prophet from  Makaah to Madina.This marks the beginning of Islamic calender.



632     The death of Holy Prophet at Medinah.



633-647   The Islamic conquest of Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Syria.



632-661   The period of Khulafa-e-Rashideen
            Hazrat Abu Bakr, the first Khalifa 632-634
            Hazrat Umar, the second Khalifa 634-644
            Hazrat Osman, the third Khalifa 644-656
            Hazrat Ali, the fourth Khalif 656-661     



661-750   Umayyid Khilafat



680     The tragedy of KARBALA (Hazrat Imam Husain's martyrdom along with  his 72 companions in the battle against the evil yazeed).



700     Islam spreads in Africa



709     Islam reaches the farthest western part of the globe known till then  Spain.



710     Muslims cross the Indus



750     The Abbasi Khilafat era begins



762           Baghdad founded



825          Sicily conquered by Muslims (for 225 years)



988             Al Azhar university founded at Cairo.
